i've thought about getting a desktop & just devoting it to graphics stuff as well - - hope you get some good answers to this

That's exactly what I'm doing man, my desktop will be solely for graphic stuff, that way I'll avoid slowdowns produced by viruses, adwares, trojans etc. I'll even give it a good night kiss, just in case. :3

You can get a solid PC for cheap if you order the parts online and build it yourself. Many websites offer help to get you started shopping for parts (<a href="http://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/">http://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/</a> comes to mind - read the articles listed on the right)

Although I have no idea what stores ship to your location

That's something I still haven't decided, my only fear for building a desktop is the time it will take for me to learn and actually build it, and also the warranty. But I'll think about it. :)

man drop a little more and get a solid thinkpad laptop is what id say i did it and love it tablet screenedd

I heard those laptops are good but I want a desktop. :D

You probably want to aim for something with a little horsepower in the CPU and memory. A video card isn't super important, but you probably want to nab something running Windows 7 x64. You should be able to keep that under $1000 bucks easy. I'd still not totally naysay laptops, though. They're pretty good, nowadays.

I know, the thing is that I had a bad experience with my DELL XPS. It only lasted 3 years and each of those years it got defective. But I might give it a try...someday. >_>

The most expensive part of that PC will be the Adobe Software... You can probly buy a standard computer and run that stuff fine, for $300-400...
You can make a speedy one for probly less than $500
I would concentrate on 1) processor 2) memory 3) graphics card.
$50 case
$80-100 HDD 500GB-1TB 16-32MB cache
$50-100 memory 8-16GB DDR3
$80-100 motherboard
$80-100 processor 64-bit/4-core 3+GHz
$50-100 graphics card 800+MHz 256-512MB
$100-200 monitor

I'm glad to know it can even be less than $500 cuz I don't have much money right now. I'll try to look for a PC that matches those specs you told me. Thanks a lot Pikanjo! :)

You can actually get refurbished PC's for really cheap, I personally suggest this site for if your looking for a computer for cheap but still want it to be good: gearxs.com

I got my Dell Tower Dual core from there for only 164$ and it works perfectly

I'm gonna check it out, thanks Cut!

Desktops are underrated these days. My macbook ass "ehem" I mean pro can only do so much. And in a lot of cases, if CS4 runs poorly, its the program's fault. Fuckin Adobe.

Yeah, lol, we'll all have to deall with Adobe's clitchy programs but there is nothing we can't do about that but to Ctrl + S like crazy. :P

smart man

Yay! 8)

My laptop has 6GB RAM, and still sucks. Although everyone says that's a lot of RAM. Try finding something with that much or more.

Well, I already bought a desktop pc and it has 6Gb RAM and it work perfectly, but I'm really picky, so I might end up increasing it to 8Gb at least.
